in the “house with 6 annexes”, kiyoaki takeda architects have renovated a historic residence in nagano, japan, by constructing six additional structures to connect old, present and future life. located in a town surrounded by rich nature, the project site included an underground cellar, shelter and well, preserved from ancient times but not in use. the “house with 6 annexes” by kiyoaki takeda architects features an assemblage of small buildings, connected by crossings that alternate between interior and exterior, offering a new daily routine connected to the surrounding nature. an underground cellar, shelter and well, preserved from antiquity but not in use, are on the site. these spaces contain a site-specific, cave-like, earth-filled atmosphere that maintains a constant ambient temperature throughout the year. keeping this unique character, kiyoaki takeda has designed new lightweight structures above these underground spaces that function as a new layer, connecting past, present and future.kiyoaki takeda adds six outbuildings to historic house renovation in nagano, japan
